Week 8,9,10- Hallo Project

For this project we have been given the task of creating a piece which the speech is only the greeting “Hallo.”

I’ve already had several ideas on this and I think I want to focus on horror. As my piece is only going to be about 30 seconds, I want to focus on creating suspense throughout the clip. I want to focus on horror as I feel this is a genre I’m already quite familiar with.

This week we learnt about working practises in the media industry. This included things like freelancing, self employment and being a employer. We also had to write a career timeline for ourselves.

Week 3: Unit 3: Jobs: Sound Engineer and Foley Engineer

In this lecture we learnt about the careers of a Foley engineer and a sound engineer and how to become one.

HOW TO BECOME A FOLEY ENGINEER OR A SOUND ENGINEER.

Firstly, to become a Foley engineer you have to be become a sound engineer first. A sound engineer is more general while a Foley engineer is a specialist.

Week 3: Unit 1: Skills: Introduction to Audio

In this lesson we were introduced to audio. We learnt about different microphones and how they work.

Sound is a wave hence sound waves. Sound works by air molecules vibrating against each other and moving back and forth between the speaker and the receiver.

Week 2: Unit 3: Jobs: Lighting Engineer

A lighting engineer is a lot more than just someone who operates lights. Being a lighting engineer takes a lot of skills and isn’t a simple job to do. They design the lighting to fit the look of the set, they maintain the lights and have to know how to fix them and they have to know how to set up the lights.
